I love the header, it’s awesome! It looks fine to me because I’ve been used to huge headers but then it might to be as attractive to people using smaller monitors. You might want to add a jump-link (eg Jump to Content) at the header to redirect your readers to the blog contents.

I absolutely adore the minimalistic appeal of the design – it’s simple and very easy on the eyes. In addition, the typography is equally great as your posts don’t appear to be cluttery, windy or cramped. Some webpages use overwhelmingly small or huge fonts to create a dramatic but also a damning effect. Heh!

p/s: Regarding your tweet about whether to keep Nanyate.com or not… my opinion is to keep it it’s such a lovely domain name and can be memorised pretty easily. But it’s still all up to you teehee.

p/s/s: Speaking of Torii, you just reminded me of that Japanese BBQ franchise in Singapore called Tori Q. I love their food!

@Katy: The lantern says Nanyate?!, so does the header.

@Amanda: The thingy at the bottom was actually a mini version of the bamboo on top. Anyway, I changed it to a lantern since I had time to spare.

@Bush Mackel: Actually, the branding is plastered all over the place – in Japanese. I couldn’t find a font Asian enough to match this layout. And those fortune cookie, Mr. Work fonts are just too lame. Hahaha.

@Tara: I personally think the illustration would lose its attractiveness if I shrink the header down too much. Although, I might make the green part in the header a little smaller.
